If you're just looking for it to be legal and want some dope photos, you are allowed to do that. Do you on your wedding day. The last photo on this set is a happy film accident. The light shield on the front of my Leica was damaged, so steaks of light would hit the front of the film. If I'm helping you build your wedding day timeline, rest assured that I will REALLLLLY encourage you to step outside during sunset and get some photos then. Sunset can be tricky, especially if there is a tree line at your venue. If that's the case, then you probably want to be outside close to 20 minutes before sunset...depending on how tall those trees out. Sara and Grant's wedding day this past summer was rainy and gloomy to start, but when I saw the sun peaking through some of the clouds at the end of the day, I told them it was a now or never moment to step out and grab these photos. Shout out to @outwardvisuals who snagged my Leica M6 on our way out. Send offs aren't exclusively at the end of the nig Send offs aren't exclusively at the end of the night. Sparkler exits are what most people think of when it comes to a wedding send off, but having a ceremony send off is incredible, too. These can be as easy as bubbles when you exit the church, or confetti canons if you're getting married outdoors (just please make whatever if being tossed eco friendly). Most of the time, it's for friends that I like working with, so getting paid to shoot a wedding with them is kinda a bonus. Off season for weddings means that I get to explor Off season for weddings means that I get to explore other types of sessions, like headshots and branding work. A couple of years ago, we did a branding session at @goodnews_barbershop , but now that they're redoing their website, they needed headshots to go along with those branding photos. David at @goodnews_barbershop has been cutting my hair for about 4 years now, and I no longer trust anyone else to do it. His crew is top notch, and I was so happy to get these shots for them. Wedding photographers often get pigeonholed as only being able to shoot weddings, but I think we're some of the most talented when it comes to adjusting to light on the fly. It is a bit easier when I can control light in a studio with a backdrop and camera strobe.

I got my Leica M6 back from repairs about a day or two before this shoot, and I'm so stoked on how these turned out. My absolute favorite aspect of designing albums is My absolute favorite aspect of designing albums is that I get to look at what YOU selected as your favorite photos of the ones that I made that day. If anything, it's a bit of feedback about the types of photos that my couples like the most. Of course, each selection is different with each couple. This is also a sign to have some sort of a send off during your wedding day. Struggling with white balance while using an exter Struggling with white balance while using an external flash, especially during sparkler exits where the light temperature’s don’t match? Here is a tip: - Use Lightroom’s subject select tool (hotkey M, then select subject) highlight the subject that isn’t the right temperature. - Brush in whatever else needs to be added, OR you can also erase part of the mask that has been selected - Adjust the temperature of your subject so it matches the ambient light in the photo Could you possibly just bring a gel for your flash and avoid this extra step? Yes, but I already try to carry the minimum amount of gear, so that’s just SOMETHING ELSE to bring that I don’t want to. Hope this helps! The snow was falling perfectly to be captured on camera, and it wasn't too cold outside for this shoot. Cold weather isn't too bad for photos because getting warm and cozy with one another is a perfect cue for great photos. My fingers were a bit numb in the end, but it was worth it. My favorite and always go-to prompt to get a photo My favorite and always go-to prompt to get a photo session started: walk and talk. Anyone can walk and talk with one another. Forget that the camera is there and hangout. I'll always "challenge" a couple and ask them if they're skilled enough to walk and kiss. Set your shutter to high speed, and let it fly. You should get that coveted smiling REALLY close photo, almost like they're kissing while smiling. You can even do this with the wedding party behind. Every once in a while, the wedding party might ask if I wanted them to kiss, too, which always provides some nice laughs. New year means new headshots for the BRP SQUAD, so New year means new headshots for the BRP SQUAD, so it means new headshot for me, too! I can't even begin to share what being a part of this team has done for my photography career this past year. From becoming a sponge while second shooting with some of the squad members(both past and present), to taking on clients of my own, it's been an integral part of my growth. I think I had my first shoot for @iambenramos at the tail end of 2021 (shout out to Ilya and Katie for that opportunity), but this past year has been BOOKED with BRP couples, both engagements and weddings. I treat BRP couples exactly like I would my own, so by the end of the shoot, we're more than just photographer and client! I can't wait for my 2023 weddings this year, especially since the first one will be in CABO! If you kept reading this far, here's a little bit of news that I'll probably share in another post. I'm already at 20 weddings for 2023. Fall (Sept-Oct) is totally booked, but I've got some primo summer dates still available. I'm only taking on 5 more weddings for the year (I'm serious this time) because close to 3 last year almost wrecked me, especially in the fall. I know my limits, and I'm being better about setting them this year, especially so I can spend more time with the family. If you got engaged over the holidays, hit me up! It'll be nice to hang up my cameras for a couple of weeks until engagement shoots start, but I'll still be checking the day to day tasks.
